Baking, a Love Story

My Fall Favorites…An Apple-y Collection of Recipes Past

Hi All,

It seems I just can’t get into the swing of things as Fall baking and cooking should be starting to be ushered in. I love Fall…more than any other season and the food that comes with it. But when it’s been in the 100 degree temps on and off for the last four weeks, I simply can’t accept that Fall is near.

So here are some good ol’ apple-y Fall favorites for you to peruse while I try to muster up some motivation to make something other than salad.

My Cinnamon Apple Waffles are a fabulous way to start the day. They are crispy, lightly spiced, a little sweet and just the right thing to get you in the Fall spirit even if I am not.

Maybe you need something sweet, a little salty and crumbly to serve the kiddos when they come home from school. These Caramel Apple Crumb Bars are SUPER easy and absolutely amazing…any kid or adult would be lucky to dig into them.

I don’t know what says warm and comforting more than these Apple Softies. Enjoy them with a cup of spiced apple cider for the double whammy of goodness.

And last but definitely not least by any stretch of the imagination, this Apple (and rum!) Spiced Layer Cake with Caramel Frosting is to die for. It would be a perfect ending to any Fall inspired meal.

I hope it’s beginning to feel a little like Fall where ever you are and even if it’s not, it’s never the wrong time to make and eat something delicious! 🙂

  1. For me, the best thing about fall are the awesome apple recipes! I usually don’t snack on apples very often, but there is something irresistible about the harmony of cinnamon, apples, and brown sugar.

  2. Yum. Just when I was wondering what to do with apples from my CSA, along comes your great post, Geni! I think those caramel apple crumb bars are calling my name. The minute I saw them I had to pop over to the recipe! Thanks!

  3. Glad to be of service Betsy! They really are ridiculously addicting and easy.

  4. I may be going into spring but I will make this list anyway! It looks delicious 😀

can’t wait to try out the waffles and the crumb bars..can’t the weekend come faster?

  12. With apples in our orchard ready for picking, I can use all the recipes I can get.

  13. What a scrumptious ode to fall! I have been coveting the new crop of apples at our local farm stand. I am always tempted to bring home more apples than we can possibly use. And your Caramel Apple Crumb Bars would be a splendid way to use those juicy sweet apples!

  14. Hi Geni, I cannot wait to try some of your recipes. My kids would love the apple waffles for breakfast or for school lunch. I’m thinking I may try to bake this weekend for our block party, perhaps the apple spiced layered cake. We had a pretty hot summer and I kept our meals basic but now that school has started I need to kick it back into gear with baking.

  15. Caramel apple crumb bars. Yep…I’m all over those. Just printed the recipe out. I NEED those. Truly. Need them. Great round-up Geni!

  16. A delicious round up, Geni. Have a great weekend!

  17. Oye I hear ya. I can barely get myself to cook in general because it’s so dang hot. But I’m itching to start cooking/baking with apple, pumpkin, etc. Love fall season! Ummm and those caramel apple crumb bars. Yeah, I need those. 🙂

  19. You know I’m on the apple train – and if the rest of these are as good as the Apple Crumble, I will be a happy lady. Hoping you are having an amazing weekend, Geni! Happy to be back and reading your delicious posts!

  20. I’m ready for the apple season Geni!!! Thanks for the round up!

  24. I have a ridiculous amount of apples right now. They’re just so delicious this time of year – I want them in EVERYTHING.

  25. Those Caramel Apple Crumb Bars look great! And you can send some of that hot weather this way, it’s supposed to be Spring here but still looks suspiciously like winter!

  26. I am with you on getting into fall baking. As bad as I am craving pumpkin this and apple that we still have 90 degree weather and it sure doesn’t feel like fall! Love your collection of recipes. Each of them sound fantastic and I hope to try those crumb bars! yum

  27. Same here Geni…I’m just not ready to accept that “fall” is here or around the corner. Hopefully being back in the Northeast will get me in the spirit. Those apple softies are calling to me. 🙂

  28. Hi! I’ve been enjoying reading your blog and have nominated you for the Super Sweet Blogger Award. You can find all the info here: http://terriskitchenuk.wordpress.com/2012/09/20/a-super-sweet-blogger-award/

  29. It sure did take a while but I finally got here, Geni. This is a round-up any apple-lover like me will love. I can see myself over-indulging with each of these treats. If only apple season started in April, so that we’d be celebrating strawberry season next and not the starting of snowblowers.

  30. I’ve made your apple cinnamon waffles and they are so delicious! I am glad you posted this so I am reminded to make them again this year!
