A Valentine’s Day Round Up

I know, us foodie bloggers tend to over-do the holidays. I just may be the biggest culprit of all. But, since we are all in the same red hearted boat my friends, I have decided to do a round up BECAUSE I have found some gorgeous and tantalizing things out there, and perhaps you have not run across these posts of perfection so here they are…red, hearted and delish!

Cali from Offally Tasty knocked my socks of with these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies. I need to see how I can work them into my life between today and Tuesday and you should too!

Mini Raspberry Linzer Cookies for Dough-Nibbling Bakers

These delicate, raspberry or Nutella filled mini Linzer cookies are rich and buttery, just slightly crispy and have so few ingredients, you are guaranteed to have them on hand. This recipe is from the Barefoot Contessa and requires NO EGGS which concerned me at the get-go, but after tasting them, I was sold and so was my Girl Scout Troop as they nibbled inhaled the raw cookie dough sans salmonella.

Where Did All the Whoopies Go?

Those beautiful visions of snackdom you see there are peanut butter whoopie pies with dark chocolate buttercream filling. My dad sent me an email yesterday with this link, making sure I was fully aware that it was National Peanut Butter Day. There’s a National Peanut Butter Day?! How exciting!!! Who knew?  So I gleefully hopped on the peanut butter celebration train and took a wild ride.

TGIF Peanut Butter Blondies

Hey all, these are my very favorite bar cookie recipe hands down, and even though it’s a re-post, it’s a good one. A really good one. And it’s been one heck of a week so the TGIF sentiments definitely apply to the here and now.  Wishing everyone a great weekend and a note to check back soon; I made a life altering pizza yesterday that will make it here shortly with horrible night time pics and all. Night time photos are the worst!

Sometimes Fridays come in the nick of time, like a life raft, just when you think you don’t have any more in you.  Finally, there it is like a perky invitation to your weekend; a weekend that surely (God willing) will be better than the week before it. These peanut butter chocolate chip blondies are my celebration toast to Fridays.

Skip the champagne and any other hoopla, just give me a big, fat rich peanut butter cookie bar decked out with my favorite darkest chocolate chips (Ghirardelli) and I am ready to get this party started.

Cookie Baking 101 and Katina’s Greek Crescents

I will start and end this post with my family’s favorite Christmas cookies, Katina’s Greek Crescents. They are made with pecans and dusted with powdered sugar and bite after delicate bite literally melts in your mouth.  I actually never knew Katina, nor really know how she fits into my family’s life. I just know she must have been one heck of a baker and that officially gives her my seal of approval.

Cookies 101

Cookies are not tricky so you may wonder what I could possibly say about making them that would help you? Well, actually if you are an avid baker, I probably have nothing on you. BUT if you are in the group of people who bake a batch now and then and wonder why sometimes they come out great and other times they spread out like pancakes, and why sometimes they are a little tough but other times they are perfectly soft and chewy, well then you have come to the right post my friends. Take a Coffee Break with Some Finnish Ribbon Cookies

Finnish Ribbon Cookies are dainty little butter cookies that get filled with gourmet jams and drizzled with a citrus-y glaze.   These are the perfect pretty little bites to have on your plate with your tea or coffee, and I have never met a soul that could stop at eating just one.

If you are in a baking frenzy right about now, like I was last night, and need one more petite addition to complete your gifts of goodies, try this one. The dough preparation is like any other butter cookie. Continue reading

An Orange and Rosemary Chocolate Chip Cookie Throwdown—With Myself!

I am a lucky, lucky girl.  I get my organic CSA produce box delivered with a little something sweet tucked in on top of all the fruits and veggies. Auntie Em’s produce delivery is run by local chef extraordinaire, Theresa Wahl of Bobby Flay Throwdown cupcake fame (her Red Velvets beat him out).

“The One” and a Chocolate Chip Cookie with Home Made Butter Toffee {Secret Recipe Club}

This is my first month as part of the Secret Recipe Club and what a better way to get my toes dipped into the water, then to get to feature a recipe from a talented blogger, Katie, at Epicurean Mom. I have to tell you, her stunning photos of her beautiful children immediately captured my attention.

There were so many drool-worthy recipes to choose from that I had a bit of trouble narrowing down my choice, but when I got to Home Made Butter Toffee Chunks in Chocolate Chip Cookies, I knew I had met “the one”. You know in the depths of your soul when you have found “the one”, don’t you? Continue reading

Chocolate Spiderweb Cookies and a Spooky Halloween Hot Cocoa Bar

Here is something yummy and spooky for your Halloween table….soft yet slightly crispy chocolate spider web cookies. What could be more fun to serve your little guests after a cold night of trick-or-treating than a hot cocoa bar complete with chocolate spiderweb cookies, chocolate dipped Oreos, ghost-shaped Peep marshmallows and homemade chocolate spiders?

Even the adults can get in on this recipe since I managed to spike the icing in the adultified version. I added a little Frangelico to the icing to kick things up a notch. Continue reading

A Birthday Cookie and One Last Hurrah

The dust has settled. It’s weird. My kitchen looks rather naked without its beautiful wood floors. It makes me uncomfortable; to see it like this…pulled apart at the seams.

Yesterday morning I knew this was the beginning of the end of my baking for a few weeks, at least in my own kitchen anyway. You know me, I will probably become a squatter in somebody else’s kitchen. I barely can breathe without baking. Continue reading
