The Girl Who Cried Wolf {Chocolate Kahlua Cake Drizzled with Kahlua Ganache and Kahlua Icing}

I am she…the one who cried wolf. The one who has said at least ten times or so here on S&C that this is the BEST something or other EVER! But what if it is? Will you believe me this time? Have I whittled away your trust? I sure hope not because the only loser in this equation is YOU if that is so.

Let’s reconsider that last statement. I am NOT calling all of my readers losers. Well, I don’t think so anyhow. I am actually just saying that if I have blown your trust to smithereens, although it may be my fault entirely, if you don’t believe me this time, you will be so, so sorry because this IS the BEST chocolate cake I have ever made (I am fairly certain). Food Bloggers Unite and A Resplendent Chocolate Chip Yeasted Coffee Cake

“Are you self-hosted? How do you deal with lighting issues? Have you had your blog custom designed? I get my cool plates for food staging from thrift shops around my house for $1!” Although my fellow L.A. bloggers and I were there at lunch to discuss the upcoming bake sale for the Great American Bake Sale for Share Our Strength, we all had pressing issues on our minds.

Frosting as Superglue and a Chocolate Malted S’mores Birthday Cake

Like my cake, this post is a bit of a mess. Sometimes I just don’t think linearly. I know, the rich and chocolatey S’mores cake looks just fine, even delicious, BUT it definitely had a rough start. The crazy baker who had gotten up at 5:00am to frost it was still a bit sleepy. She had not had her coffee and she was doing dangerous stunts with the serrated knife and muttering to herself while burning her finger tips on the freshly broiled marshmallows. It may have been the morning of the birthday party. This idiotic baker may not have planned ahead quite as well as she thought.

Baileys Buttercream and a Dark Chocolate Incognito Cupcake{Gluten Free}

These devastatingly delicious, over-the-top, dark chocolate cupcakes with get yourself drunk Baileys Buttercream are GLUTEN FREE! Who knew GF could be fabulous?!  I have also included my very best all-purpose flour dark chocolate cupcakes as well so it’s win win all over S&C (if you missed the last post, I have recently converted to referring to my blog as S&C because, like J.Lo, I am too cool to spell out my name…or I’m just that lazy…hmmm).

Flash Back to the Eighties Inside-Out Ding Dong Cake

Just for the record, I think this dark, devilish and creamy cake is what you might imagine a Ding Dong would be if you were in heaven; if it were actually made for YOU by Dorie Greenspan and if it were made with Chuao Chocolate and served to you within hours of it coming out of the oven.  That is how my family enjoyed this crazy, amazingly soft, chocolaty, cream-filled and frosted cake (minus the Dorie Greenspan part—ah well).

Baileys Chocolate Devastation Cookies

Who needs therapy when you have a bottle of Baileys, some Dagoba cocoa powder, a beautiful stainless steel Kitchen Aid and a little time to kill? Well, in all honesty, I had NO TIME to kill; infact I was trying to get kids ready for school, pack lunches and get myself ready for work. But that’s neither here nor there.

Small Things, Mint Chocolate Brownies and a {McCormick Giveaway}!

The Giveaway is closed.

Congratulations to Renee G. and Cindy D.! You are the winners of the McCormick gift pack. I will be contacting you both by email shortly.

It’s the small things…

Both given and received that make life much sweeter. That make life bearable during choppy times and even more glorious during the best of times.

Small things like hugs on the way out the door to school. A shoulder massage from my hubby as I work at the computer, or a twenty shoved in the hand of my teenage son as he picks up his keys. Continue reading

A Valentine’s Day Round Up

I know, us foodie bloggers tend to over-do the holidays. I just may be the biggest culprit of all. But, since we are all in the same red hearted boat my friends, I have decided to do a round up BECAUSE I have found some gorgeous and tantalizing things out there, and perhaps you have not run across these posts of perfection so here they are…red, hearted and delish!

Cali from Offally Tasty knocked my socks of with these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies. I need to see how I can work them into my life between today and Tuesday and you should too!

Start Valentine’s Day on a High Note With Red Velvet Pancakes

Can you think of a better way to start your Valentine’s Day morning than with rich, soft, chocolaty Red Velvet Pancakes?!  I can’t either.  They even get served with a luscious, cream cheese dipping sauce.  Pretty sweet, right?— pun totally intended…that’s just how I roll.

Seriously, these are absolutely decadent and for the handful of readers I have from the Los Angeles area, they are a dead ringer for the ones served from L.A.’s famous Buttermilk food truck.  I have dreamt of these babies and craved them for days and now I can make them right in my own little kitchen…happy, happy me and now happy, happy you!

Not for Sissies Spiced Molten Chocolate Cakes

Inhale. I am giving you permission unlike Bill Clinton’s little foray. You’re not running for president are you? Let’s hope not. Use some imagination…c’mon…I know you can. Close your eyes, picture standing in my kitchen. Please step over the Golden Retriever. Chances are, she is lying at your feet, or more likely has her nose in your crotch. Try to ignore that…it’s difficult, but please try for this little exercise.
