A Parade of Easter Sweets

Whether you have big plans, little plans or no plans, you can whip up one of these spring-y sweets to help celebrate the day. I have rated these recipes based on difficulty and time needed so you can choose the one that fits into your life.

Braided Bread Stuffed with Lemon Curd. This soft, delicate, flaky filled bread is so tangy and sweet. It is really a perfectly beautiful bread to BRING to a brunch, one that you are not hosting and you are only responsible for ONE THING. Because this one is a solid 9/10  in difficulty level (maybe a 10…let’s not mince words) and is totally worth it if you have the time and energy.

Book Review: Gluten-Free Baking Classics by Annalise Roberts

I have only written one other book review over here at Sweet and Crumby. And basically, that’s because usually I find cookbooks very nice and inspiring, but I don’t find them something worth talking about necessarily.

But Gluten-Free Baking Classics, honestly, changed our lives and made us happier. When else can you say that about a cookbook? I have a gluten sensitive family member and trying to make things taste “as good as” was impossible…so I thought. Continue reading

Clearing Another GF Hurdle {Lemon Blueberry Pancakes, GF and AP Flour Versions}

Hurdles; They slow us down and are barriers to get where we want to go, but ultimately, they encourage us to stretch and learn. Gluten free baking was a big hurdle for me. Daunting, difficult, and rather unrewarding…at first.

April Fool’s Faux Fries and A Chocolate Chipped, Orange Zested Pound Cake Ticket to Crazy Place

Hi All,

Since April Fool’s Day is today, I thought I would repost this since it is a doozy, tastes YUM and will definitely fool anyone you serve them to. Make sure to stop by your local fast food joint and ask if you can take one of the little ketchup cups when you buy a soda or something, it really helps with the whole look of the fake fries. Happy fooling! —Love, Geni

I can’t do anything normally, the obvious way, the “exactly according to the recipe” way. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn’t. Today it worked; really, really worked.

Stumble Out of Bed Chocolate Chip Espresso Muffins {GF and AP Versions}

Do you have one eye open most mornings, trip over the dog as you shuffle to the kitchen and barely pour your waiting pre-programmed cup of coffee into your mug? Or, if you are like one of my best friends, she can’t even get that far into her morning without a pinch hitter. Her hubby brings her a first cup of the day in bed before she can even attempt to face her day. Yeah, there are men like that, or at least men who are smart enough to know what’s good for them. 😉

A Tale of Two Irish Soda Breads (GF and AP Flour versions)

“Challenge Accepted!” was my answer when my mom asked me to bring a GF version of my semi-famous Irish Soda Bread to her St. Patrick’s Day Themed Sunday Dinner last night.

Baileys Chocolate Devastation Cookies

Who needs therapy when you have a bottle of Baileys, some Dagoba cocoa powder, a beautiful stainless steel Kitchen Aid and a little time to kill? Well, in all honesty, I had NO TIME to kill; infact I was trying to get kids ready for school, pack lunches and get myself ready for work. But that’s neither here nor there.

Irish Whiskey Bread Pudding: How Good Intentions Go Awry

The road to he!! is paved with good intentions. That’s what my grandmother used to tell me now and then. Perhaps it was a hint. Basically, it means that individuals may do bad things even though they intend the results to be good.  I look back and think, maybe I was a little bit of a wild card then. I sure hope so. I really haven’t sowed any wild oats in the last 30 years or so—unless you count this Irish Whiskey Bread Pudding.

Baileys Buttercream and a Dark Chocolate Incognito Cupcake{Gluten Free}

These devastatingly delicious, over-the-top, dark chocolate cupcakes with get yourself drunk Baileys Buttercream are GLUTEN FREE! Who knew GF could be fabulous?!  I have also included my very best all-purpose flour dark chocolate cupcakes as well so it’s win win all over S&C (if you missed the last post, I have recently converted to referring to my blog as S&C because, like J.Lo, I am too cool to spell out my name…or I’m just that lazy…hmmm).
