A Parade of Christmas Cookies to Share and Enjoy

Ho, ho, ho…the holiday spirit has taken over my house as I prepare for my BIG DAY! Sunday is Cookie Delivery Day over here and I have been making TRIPLE BATCHES of most of these cookies you see here. I’ve been making double batches of my All Purpose Flour versions and one batch of my Gluten-Free flour versions so I am certainly a busy little elf.

I have provided you with a photo line-up of my cookies, and here is my Cookie Game Plan if you need that as well. Hope you are feeling rather festive yourself, and if not, just make a batch of one of these cookies, and that may just put you in the mood.

Make these…

Perfectly cheerful and spicy Gingerbread Cut Out Cookies

Gingerbread

Or melt-in-your-mouth Greek Crescent Cookies which are buttery, rich and the best pairing to a good cup of coffee EVER!

For the chocolate lover in your group, here are my Death By Chocolate Peppermint Cookies. If you are a chocoholic and they don’t rock your holiday world, feel free to file a complaint, get your money back and sue for damages because I am 100% certain they are ALL THAT.

Peppermint

These Orange and Chocolate Chip Cookies with Rosemary may seem odd to you but they are honestly my most requested cookie (by adults!) at the holidays. They are tender, a bit chewy, citrus-y, and a hint of rosemary makes them special (in a good way).

Orange Rosemary

AND I add these two favorites from around the blogosphere…

Flourless Peanut Butter Blossoms from Recipe Girl. You would never, ever believe these cookies don’t have flour so they are naturally Gluten-Free and are so ridiculously simple to make. They are a hit every year!

And the new one that is making it to our Holiday Cookie Baskets are these crazy, crazy delicious Gluten-Free Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookies from Gluten-Free on a Shoestring. We could not keep our hands of these…nor our mouths for that matter.

Let me know if you give any of these a go and please feel free to add a link to your favorite holiday cookie in the comments! Happy Holidays!

Be Kind, Unwind {And Less Guilt Foods to Help You Muscle Through Your Resolution}

Hi Friends,

Thanks for putting up with my lazy but appropriate re-posts for the beginning of this year. Obviously, my resolution was NOT to post more new stuff because that resolution would be long out the door.

Instead, my resolution is to take better care of myself and for me that means very little self-induced pressure for things that really don’t matter in the big picture (I.E. Frequent new posts or keeping a neater house). Have you considered  the torment you cause yourself over things that frankly just don’t mean much? So my advice, if you think my opinion is worth a grain of salt, is to be kind to yourself, at least as kind as you are to others. Do things that make you happy and bring you peace, and take it a little easier on the self-talk. My self-talk is notoriously fairly kvetchy. Continue reading

A Parade of Soups to Warm You Up

Is it freezing where you are…literally? So much of the country right now is under so many feet of snow…and a nice, hot bowl of soup may be just what is called for, and perhaps a Hot Buttered Rum to boot or a one way ticket to somewhere warm.  If I were near you, I would gladly bring you over a pot of one of my soups…I love to make soup. It’s therapeutic if you ask me.

So here they are in all of their glory, my semi-famous S&C soup line-up…
Sausage and Kale Soup with potatoes and carrots…so full of heartiness that it will surely knock you out of your winter blues.

A Pre-Thanksgiving Round-Up

Thankful. I have so much…too much. My grown kids are kind, happy and healthy, productive adults. That is everything to me. And my Golden Retriever, Sadie, is a constant love and complete noodge (I love both sides of her; the angel and the devil). I am surrounded by family and friends and always have food on my table and a warm bed. All of that is huge and Thanksgiving reminds me not to take it all for granted and to do what I can to help others to have the same necessities. Food and a warm bed should not be a privilege in a wealthy country such as ours. Unfortunately, that is not the case.  If you are feeling like you have more than you need, please think of homeless organizations in your area to donate to. One of my local favorites is West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation.

As to the food I’ve decided not to reinvent the wheel and just show you what Sweet and Crumby has got for the upcoming big holiday. I hope this list gives you inspiration for your Thanksgiving menu.

This Maple Roasted Pumpkin Salad would be a tantalizing and bright way to start off your holiday meal. Add some dried cranberries or make a cranberry vinaigrette to give it that extra festive flare.

It’s important that you know yours and that you can summon it up on any given day when life is more than a little topsy turvy. There are too many moments that can throw you for a loop so please, if there is one take away from this post, research your happy place and know how to reach it at a moment’s notice. It is essential.

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies!

As my blog has remained frozen on the last post since just after Thanksgiving, I have been a baking fiend. But, unfortunately for this blog, I have not been baking many new items to post. I have been baking my favorites and distributing my very famous, or not-so-famous cookie baskets to friends and family which include: Katina’s Greek Cresecent Cookies, Finnish Ribbon Cookies, Ginger Crinkles, Orange and Rosemary Infused Chocolate Chip Cookies,  Peppermint Death by Chocolate Cookies, Peanut Butter Blossoms and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles.

A Valentine’s Day Round Up

I know, us foodie bloggers tend to over-do the holidays. I just may be the biggest culprit of all. But, since we are all in the same red hearted boat my friends, I have decided to do a round up BECAUSE I have found some gorgeous and tantalizing things out there, and perhaps you have not run across these posts of perfection so here they are…red, hearted and delish!

Cali from Offally Tasty knocked my socks of with these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies. I need to see how I can work them into my life between today and Tuesday and you should too!
